A celebration of remarkable dedication.

We here at Lynne Fernandes Optometrists would like to use today's blog to celebrate some outstanding achievements.

We will start with a couple of Birthdays....

Our Wells Road practice this year celebrates its 80th birthday of serving the local community as an independent opticians.
It all began back in 1933 when it was first opened by a Mr Percy Cook, who served reliably for 32 years until handing over the reigns to Michael Owen in 1965. Mr Owen was well loved within the local community, and after an even more impressive 35 years of serving the community, he decided that the time was right to hand over the practice to Lynne and Gerard in 2000. The past 13 years has seen the practice transform into a vibrant and progressive thinking practice, bringing the absolute best in style and clinical excellence while staying true to its community roots.

Our relatively 'younger brother' practice on Gloucester Road this year also celebrates a birthday. It is 35 years since the building was turned into an independent opticians by Mr Roger Owen (none other than brother of Michael Owen, previous Wells road custodian!).
Roger became a very popular figure in the local area and also showed great dedication to the community, running the practice for 32 years until deciding to join his brother into retirement in 2010. Lynne and Gerard have since set about instilling the ideas and values of Lynne Fernandes Optometrists.

So from Birthdays to Anniversaries...

Whilst we celebrate 35 years of independent Optometry at our Gloucester Road practice, a very special mention must be given to one of our team members there.
Starting at almost the very beginning in 1978, Lorraine Richmond has been along for the entire journey and nobody appreciates the history of the practice more than herself.
It really is a remarkable achievement of dedication to serving the community she so dearly loves, and she is certainly a familiar face amongst our local residents!

Thank you Lorraine.

Frame of the Week

WM 2240    50/19

Tasha has told me this is her pick for frame of the week.

This petite frame is ideal for a young lady, possibly late teens. The colour is delicate and not to bold but not too neutral.

With Flexible sides this frame is also light weight.

An ideal frame so a lady who wants a subtle frame with just enough colour.....

Lens Club

Lens Club- There is absolutely no fee to be come a member, Join today.

I touched on Lens Club last month. It launched with a bang on 4 February offering “free” lenses to all our loyal customers and patients. We’ve always offered to “price match” any other high street optician, but this brings our brilliant value to a whole new dimension. There is no tie in or catch: just great value on fabulous eye wear.

Frame of the Week

CK 5730    255  52/15

Lorraine our Optical Advisor at the Gloucester road practice loves this frame. Having worked in this practice for 34 years, she feels she knows what our customers would like.

This cats eyes frame is ideal that someone who wants to be just that little bit quirky.

Being an unusual 50S design and with a softer tortoise shell front means it makes a statement without being too harsh. the soft pink sides softer the look just that little bit more.

Why not try something that little bit different.......
